Windsor Regional Hospital (Ouellette Campus) – Windsor, ON
The Truth Hurts. Nurses Know.
Windsor Regional Hospital has announced massive cuts to its registered nurse (RN) staff. About 169 RN positions, including full- and part-time jobs, are being cut. This includes five nurse practitioners (NPs). The cuts will affect just about every program by way of direct layoffs, not filling vacant positions, reduction in hours, replacing RNs with registered practical nurses (RPNs), replacing NPs with physician’s assistants, or the closure of full programs. These cuts represent the loss of more than 300,000 hours of care, and about 10% of the RNs serving the Windsor community.
Hospital base operating funding has been frozen since 2012 and, with inflation and population growth, hospitals are forced to make cuts.
Call our provincial representatives to let them know we shouldn’t be balancing the books at the expense of patient care:

Hon. Deb Matthews, Deputy Premier: 519-432-7339
