Local 82 aspires to play a positive role in our community by working in solidarity with community partners to help improve the quality of life in the Windsor-Essex County area. We strive to heighten awareness of various conditions in our area by assisting community stakeholders to overcome these challenges.

iHeart Radio: City Outside Workers Fund High Tech Tools, April, 5, 2017
A donation from CUPE Local 82, matched by Windsor Ward 7 funds, has allowed for a wide suite of tech tools to be made available at the Forest Glade Library.
Among the items are a 3D printer, virtual reality mask, drone and self propelled balls.

Windsor Star: Bicycle Maintenance Stations Coming to Windsor, April, 4, 2017
Cyclists in Windsor should soon have an easier time tuning up while rolling around.
Councillors Chris Holt and Rino Bortolin are teaming up with the Canadian Union of Public Employees to bring six public bicycle maintenance stations to the city core.

Little River Pollution Control Plant to hold open house
The Little River Pollution Control Plant at 9400 Little River Road will hold a free open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors from the public will join guided tours to see how the plant operates, though no strollers or wagons can be accommodated. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes.

City of Windsor’s annual plant sale set for May 7
CUPE 82 members (Horticulturists from the Parks Department) will again be volunteering their time and skills for the 20th Annual Paul Martin Perennial Plant Sale. Proceeds from this event help fund the Paul Martin Garden at Willistead Park.
